Returning from the Northwest: We had
wonderful class in St. Maries, Idaho, sponsored by the St Maries Art
council on May 16th. The class titled "Its All About the
Light" was a foundation class for both DSLR and Point& Shoot users that
covered how to take better pictures by working with the existing light
and proper composition. Part classroom and part field work it was
well received. We had wonderful warm spring weather and everything was
very green. Images can be viewed at

Teaching and projects
I just finished the Red River Valley
Fighter Pilots Convention with images online at
www.christinereynolds.morephotos.com
It was quite an adventure. They were quite proud of their historical and
bawdy songs sang in the Officers Clubs, which sometime resulted in
their requested exit when not in a war zone.
The Florida Orchestra Amadeus concert at the Grand Hyatt was
wonderful
I have Digital Photo Academy Classes scheduled for
Saturday May 1st. There is still time to sign up at

The Intermediate class is really a foundation class for DSLR's that
everyone should take
What is the Value of an Image?
This is in response to
"How much for the Print?"
What is the value of an image?
The saying a picture is worth a thousand words hold true.
An image conveys meaning
and evokes emotion without words.
It can hold; memories,
emotions, tell a story, create a first impression and impact the
perception and actions of the viewer.
In today’s world everyone has a
camera that assists in focus and exposure.
An image in focus and
properly exposed is a snap shot.
Proper lighting, composition and timing greatly improves it and
everybody gets a good one occasionally.
Lighting
creates dimension, composition tells the story, Focus and exposure
captures the information and timing
creates
the impact and is the icing on the cake.
You can't arrive at the perfect moment unprepared.
And, the perfect moment may have to be created.
Great images are created, Great
images on demand are a result of
education and talent. Technical
mastery of lighting and composition is required then artistic
application and an understanding of the end goal.
In selecting a
Professional photographer look for credentials, a body of work and
professionalism. You are
investing in your image and it affects your future.
The value of the image is what it
provides in terms of memories, emotions, telling a story, creating a
first impression and impacting the perception and actions of the viewer.

I will be teaching a workshop at an
St. Maries Idaho Art Gallery May 16th at 1PM. The area is
beautiful, it is just south of Coeur d'Alene lake where my
Fine Art is featured at the Denise Oliver Gallery in Harrison, ID.
I will be teaching there this summer.
Projects: I am the official
photographer for the Red River Valley Fighter Pilots Convention in
Orlando, FL. Originally founded by Viet Nam era Fighter
pilots who flew over the Red River Valley in North Viet Nam where Hanoi
and Haiphong are located. At the time it was the most
heavily defended wartime airspace ever and therefore very
dangerous. This is where most of US aircraft were lost, Migs shot
down and fighter pilot lore created. What a wonderful historical
opportunity.
Sublet opportunity at my studio
approx 310 sq ft with the only private bath room in the building.
12 ft ceiling North window light and utilities included. Perfect
for an artist. There is possible shared use of shooting
space in my studio with lights. 17 x 44'
Print Competition. I sent
four prints to SEPPA to be judged April 10th. In local TAPPA juried
competition two of these prints won first places, in the Commercial and Portrait
categories.

December was full of Illustrative work for
Magazines I love the challenge of going into a location, creating
wonderful images of executives while making it fun for them.
I was amazed at the advanced technology used by Dentists and Surgeons.
Some of this work can be seen on my "Online Proofing" section.
Fall
Update It

factory building provided a
wonderful venue. Two
location photo shoots were planned and completed.
The Digital Photo Academy classes have be great.

Projects:
On November 6 & 7th
we photographed 70
Florida Orchestra Musicians individually back stage
at The Tampa Performing Arts Center
and Mahaffey Theaters.
I had several wonderful volunteers, good planning and
the images are great.
Summer
Update:
It was a good summer. I completed all requirements
for my PPA Master of Photography degree. It should be presented this
January in Nashville at the PPA Convention
“Imaging USA”
Another three prints received awards at the Florida Professional
Photographer Convention in August.
In July we held our first annual Denise Oliver
Gallery Workshop in Harrison , ID.
This gallery on Coeur d
A’lene Lake features my large Fine Art Canvas wall presentations. The
workshop was very well received but, be advised that at 48 degrees North
in the Summer it gets light around 4 AM and the Sun comes up just before
5AM, sets at 9PM and it is dark by 10PM.
So we had to work for the sweet light.
My Digital Photo Academy
classes are back in full swing after a quiet August with the most
interest in the Composition and Intermediate classes.
There are plans for all day workshop starting at the Lowry Park
Zoo and ending at the Studio with some digital post production work.
I will also teach a Super Monday workshop
for the PPA on October 26th.
Titled “Anywhere
Anytime all the Time”. This
concentrates on creating the best images on demand under every
circumstance with emphasis finding, modifying and creating the right
light with battery powered lights, reflectors and Gobos.
Fine Art sales continue to grow so I am creating a
Florida based series to complement our western series.
Look for Birds, Beaches, Swamps, Waterways and Skylines like you
have never seen them.
